Dear IMGs:

With a humble beginning in 2002, more than three years later InfoIMG has
come a long way in being an essential part of IMGs’ residency application process. It has been very fulfilling and learning experience so far. Our simple goal is still the same – Help IMGs in anyway we can.

Contrary to what you might have heard, InfoIMG strongly continues to believe that IMGs can still find a residency position in the USA. In some ways, the times have never been better, with the many opportunities offered by primary care to IMGs. Making things easier are – USMLEs, now offered in many countries at an IMG’s chosen date, increased access to internet and study materials. At the same time, the road to residency is not easy. In fact, it is paved with hard work, frustration, persistence and your own initiatives. You need to eat, sleep and drink residency position and then "A Will, will find its way".

InfoIMG is your own consultant. Whereas "you" as an IMG are the main doer, InfoIMG advises by helping you draft the strategies, offering you application and interview tips and answering any questions you might have. Each IMG has unique strengths and we will help you leverage your strength to bolster your application for a residency position.

What motivation does InfoIMG have to help me?

We have
two-fold motivation:

First, InfoIMG believes IMG's best place is in a Physician’s office caring for patients as an M.D. and NOT in research labs or health insurance companies. If an international medical graduate is not working as a doctor, it is a colossal waste of education, money and skills. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

It is not naïve to believe an IMG will be happier if she is working as an M.D.  A person with a happy and satisfied career radiates her happiness into her family and the society she lives in. It also promotes community health and productivity. That enriches lives of everyone around her and makes the community healthy, progressive, prosperous and happy.

Second, the USA still has around 45-50 million people, who are uninsured and if more IMGs are absorbed as MDs, it will increase the supply of doctors in the US. That will make the health care more accessible for the uninsured people.

In our very first year, we had a very
happy experience. One of our customers had everything against her – graduation, scores and experience. She even complained to us about the catch 22: On one hand, one can not get US clinical experience in an ACGME accredited program/hospital without first getting accepted in to the residency program.  And, on the other hand, residency programs most often will not take someone as a resident unless one has US clinical experience in a residency program! We exchanged a few emails and helped with what we could. She tried match, then scramble, then again post-match – all without success. As determined and enthusiastic she was, she did not give up and kept looking. In the end, in August she obtained a position that some nice soul told her about!

It still encourages us and fills with an abundance of optimism. The lesson we drew was – one should keep trying and improving one’s CV without ever giving up. And,
nothing is impossible.

We also thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for putting your faith is us and making us the premier destination for IMGs.

Cheers and all the best.

Regards,

InfoIMG
